The Shield of Rage is the first shield in the Wrath Series which is a set from the Curse Series and is claimed by Naofumi in『Chapter 22』of the web novel after losing a duel to Motoyasu partially due to the unfair assistance from Malty. It is unlocked after seething rage from the very depths of the body envelops Naofumi and the requirements to unlock the Wrath Series are met. The shield has two equip bonus skills,「Change Shield (Attack) 」and「Iron Maiden」. In order to use「Iron Maiden」, first, the user has to use「Change Shield (Attack) 」on「Shield Prison」and change the shields into a needle weapon form. Then the user has to recite the line "The foolish criminal will feel with their whole body the embrace of virgin iron in a single blow. Release a cry full of painful agony that will not be heard!!" which will activate the skill and drain the user of their SP and leave them exhausted.

In『Chapter 52』of the web novel, Naofumi is forced to use the Shield of Rage in order to defeat Glass. When he activates it the last memory of the dragon that Ren killed is projected into Naofumi. Through this, he is able to understand the anger and humiliation the dragon felt from losing to a human. He says it was far beyond his imagination. He watches as a part of the chest and the middle of the forehead is pierced by the Sword Hero. The shape of the shield changes from one surrounded by flame to one that resembles a dragon. Furthermore, in conjunction with the shield, Barbarian Armor + 1 also changed. The Rider Suit changes to look like a Jet-Black Dragon.

In『Chapter 72』, while fighting the pope, Naofumi and company are being pushed back by replication of a legendary hero's weapons possessed by the pope. The replica is able to transform into any of the Four Legendary Weapons but it is incapable of growing any more powerful than its current state. With the help of Filo and Raphtalia, Naofumi is able to control the anger of the dragon's core in the Shield of Anger Ⅱ and direct it towards his enemy. The Shield of Wrath Ⅱ’s dragon-like figure has become even more ominous compared to before. The shield's dragon features morph to be more devil-like and the horns curl around. After building up the anger the ability「Blutopher」(which means blood sacrifice in German) is unlocked.「Blutopfer」is like a steel bear trap that has multiple layers. It looks like the ground grew a shark’s mouth, with the target in the middle. Although it is extremely powerful「Blutopfer」is also very taxing. Using it drains the users' blood and curses them, cutting all of the users' stats by 30% except for defense (reference『Chapter 74』) until the curse is cured completely. In addition to that, after using it the user will be left unconscious for at least a day if treated properly and may feel lethargic when they regain consciousnesses. If they are not treated in a timely manner, they will suffer death.

In『Chapter 116』of the web novel takes the time to strengthen Wrath Shield Ⅲ. He discovers that this shield cannot perform item, spirit, and status enchantments however it's abilities still improved tremendously.

In『Chapter 180』while suppressing Gaelion, Naofumi comes to the conclusion that since Gaelion is using power absorbed from the shield, more specifically the Wrath Shield, he decided to try to intentionally fail to reinforce it resulting in a degraded shield. He actually succeeds several times, strengthening it up to Wrath Shield to +10, however, he finally fails before he reaches Wrath Shield +11. With the successful strengthening failure, he then proceeds to degrade its class in『Chapter 181』. Once again he succeeds a couple of times reaching the SR+ level but fails to achieve AF rarity resulting in the shield reverting to C.
