Keel (キール Kīru?) is a resident of Raphtalia's home village and her childhood friend. She became Naofumi's slave in hopes of getting stronger and rebuilding the village.

Appearance[]

She is shown to be a young boy around the age of 10 with dog-like features, later revealed to be a girl. Her tomboyish appearance fooled everyone, including Naofumi, who accepted her as his slave under the impression that she was male. When Tact asked his harem not to hurt women, every other woman in the Holy Hero side remained unharmed, with the exception of Keel.

Human[]

She is initially described as a young man around the age of 10 with dog-like features. However, as she levels and her appearance ages as well as her being, she is verified to be female, making her out to be a tomboy who could easily pass as a pretty boy.

Dog Form[]

Her dog form takes the appearance of a loincloth-clad puppy (specifically, a Siberian Husky) who walks on two legs. This form is about two and a half feet tall on two legs and is completely covered in fur.[3]

Personality[]

Keel can be bratty and whiny when wanting food from Naofumi. Despite how she acts, she helps bring together the slaves as a leader of sorts.

Background[]

Throughout her life, Keel was raised as a boy. Her father treated Keel like his son, telling her that gender was a state of mind. She survived the first wave with Raphtalia, only to be captured by slave traders taking advantage of the devastation. She was eventually purchased by the corrupt Idol Rabier, only to be freed by Raphtalia when she returned with the Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani.

Trivia[]

  • Keel originally wasn't intended to be an important character, however, the personality that was given to her overlapped with a male character that the author planned to make down the road, so Keel's sex was altered.
  • Keel's favorite food is crepes.
  • Keel loves food so much that Naofumi nicknames other food lovers with her name (ex. Keel II).
